PLEASE READ FURTHER FOR MORE INFORMATION ON HOW THE ORDER OF MERIT WILL RUN THIS YEAR.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
If you do not have a Castle Handicap please email tournaments@castlesnookerclub.com as soon as possible with the answers to following questions:
– Have you competed in a handicap snooker competition before? If so, what was your handicap?
– What is your highest break and when did you make it?
– What kind of breaks would you say are your average?
– Have you played anyone in the club that we could use as a bench mark for how to handicap you?
– Please give us a brief description of where you think your game is at, how often you play and a brief history of your snooker life!
Entry fee
THERE WILL BE 15 EVENTS IN THIS YEAR’S SERIES
£17 PER EVENT/£10 FOR UNDER 18s.
The Entry Fee breakdown:
£17 Single Entry
- £10 – Prize Pot on the day
- £5 – to the club to cover cost of lights
- £2 – this will go into the end of season prize pot.
Double points:
There will be 2 tournament worth double points: one to start the season and one before the end of season finals. You will also have the opportunity to play your joker card after Christmas, earning you Double Points for that tournament. So don’t worry if you find yourself low in the rankings. You will have plenty of opportunities to catch up.
End of season Top 16 Finals:
This will be a seeded straight knockout event!
Please note, we also maintain the right to adjust a player’s handicap at any time if we believe that it is incorrect. An example of this would be if a player improves dramatically in a short time and therefore their handicap needs to reflect this or if it becomes clear that a player’s original handicaps were wrong.
- Winner: -8
- Runner-up: -6
- Semi Final: -4
- Quarter Final: -2
- Last 16: +1
- Last 32: +2
- Last 64: +3
There will also be a maximum start given of 80 in any match e.g. If a scratch player is playing a player with an 90 start, then they will only have to give 80 per frame.
The Miss Rule
Due to the fact that this is a handicap and therefore it is difficult ti interpret the miss rule, we ask that you use it based on the following:
- A miss can continue to be called until the ball on is hit (or snookers are required).
- The first three ‘misses’ will result in the offending player conceding the full value of the foul (normally 4 points).
- Any subsequent fouls will only concede 1 point to the opposing player per attempt.
We still ask that you use your discretion when applying the miss rule, in extreme circumstances it is unfair to call a miss as the shot is either too difficult or impossible.
Points:
The points system will also remain the same as last year.
- Winner: 20
- Runner-up: 15
- Semi Final: 10
- Quarter Final: 6
- Last 16: 4
- Last 32: 3
Tournament formats:
- Up to 16 players: Best of 5s all the way!
- 16+ players: Best of 3, Best of 5 from semis.
END OF SEASON PRIZE MONEY
£2 from every entry will go towards the end of season prize money.
Money will be split 50/50 between the end of season Top 16 play off and the end of season leaderboard, with the top 4 being paid out.
